On Thursday, January 7, 2016 Alfred Cooperative institute for Art & Culture will open a group exhibition titled Clearing. The exhibition will feature works of art in different mediums of Alfred Gallery's artists, and of the cooperative gallery artists BETONBOX, Düsseldorf, Germany.

The exhibition deals with motives of light, and with the theme of the clearing in a forest. Each artist gives his own interpretation to both themes.

Alfred Gallery is pleased to announce a collaboration with the BETONBOX cooperative gallery in Düsseldorf, Germany, and in collaboration with the artists Vera Lossau and Amit Goffer.

The beginning of the collaboration was launched in a group exhibition, titled 'Lichtung', in the BETONBOX, Düsseldorf in October 2015, exhibiting artists from both cooperatives. During the visit in Düsseldorf, an Israeli video art screening took place, and a panel at the Kunstakademie (Academy of Arts) in Düsseldorf, about the process of how Alfred – A Cooperative Institute for Art and Culture came into being and about its ongoing activities.

Now Alfred Gallery is hosting the BETONBOX artists. During the visit, the artists of the two cooperatives will participate in panels at Shenkar College, Wizo Haifa and Ashdod museum, while the highlight of the visit will be realized with a group exhibition at Alfred Gallery, exhibiting artworks of the artists from both cooperatives.

The ongoing collaboration between the cooperatives allows individual artists to push through the boundaries of their country without being dependent on commercial factors, and we aim to expand this activity to other countries.

This collaboration is part of the program of the Foreign Office, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Goethe-Institute on the occasion of The Fiftieth Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Israel and Germany. The project is enabled through the generous support of Federal state NRW, the Embassy of Israel in Germany and the Cultural Office of Dusseldorf.

The BETONBOX is a cooperative gallery since 2010 and has three members. The gallery space is located in a bunker that was used during the Second World War. The building covers an area of 600 square meters, has a huge exhibition space, and private studios. The gallery collaborates with a dozen other artists and various art institutions in Germany and is supported by different German ministries.

Alfred Gallery is a cooperative gallery that was founded 10 years ago by a group of young artists. The gallery consists of 15 members who actively participate in all aspects of the gallery's activities.

After eight years of fruitful activity in south Tel Aviv, two years ago Alfred – A Cooperative Institute for Arts and Culture was founded. Set in a 3.5-story building, entirely dedicated to promoting and supporting young Israeli art, the institute operates as a non-profit organization as it had since the very beginning.

The main activity of the cooperative Institute is Alfred Gallery, opening a new exhibition every month. In addition, in the cooperative institute there are 14 studios occupied by 20 artists working in different fields, workshops are being held in visual arts, creative writing, etc., and art and cultural events are held.

Alfred Institute is an alternative space – a home to a vibrant arts community, which brings together the art-loving audience with contemporary art and young creators.
