On Thursday February 26, 2015, Alfred – A Cooperative Institute for Arts and Culture, will open two solo exhibitions, which will feature the works of Michael J. Benari and Adam Leef.
Michael Benari, photographer, lives and works in the USA
Adam Leef, painter
Michael Benari will present a solo exhibition titled "Shoa" (Holocaust), which will include a series of abstract black and white photographs. The photographs are based on the observation of the thousands of rectangles constituting the Holocaust Memorial designed by Peter Eisenman in the center of Berlin.
Adam Leef will present a solo exhibition titled "Olive Grove", which will include a selection of black and white monotypes. The series is based on the olive grove surrounding the former studio where he worked.
The connection between the artists was created by curator Professor Michael Levin, a historian of art and contemporary modern architecture. Both exhibitions are based on a series that focuses on one subject. Although the works are constrained in theme and color, vast richness is achieved.
